Turmeric is a root and relative of Ginger. It has been used as a spice in Indian cuisine for thousands of years. It is also used as medicine in Ayurveda due to its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, antibacterial and anti-cancerous properties. As most of us know, turmeric is also a key ingredient in Indian, Thai, Persian and Malaysian Cuisine. Well, Indians mostly consume a plant-based diet and seem to have some of the highest consumption of spice in the entire world. Besides, they also have remarkably lower cancer rates compared to the Americans and other western countries. In fact, they have ten times less of colorectal cancer, five times less of breast cancer, and 12 times less of lung cancer on an average.
